Option 1 – Portland, Maine
In Portland, Maine, where we live much of the year, clients can rent a setting through Air B&B, VRBO or hotel and not incur any housing or travel costs for your clinicians. We ask that what you find is within 30 miles of Portland. Portland is a great city with extraordinary restaurants, great entertainment and art offerings, waterfront activities and exceptional natural beauty.
Option 2 – Bigelow Mountains, Carrabassett, Maine
For some the least costly setting for a retreat is our beautiful Bigelow Mountain Range property on the Carrabassett River three miles from Sugarloaf ski resort. This setting provides a house for families and/or couples, as well as separate living quarters for your clinicians. The cost of this setting is $250.00 a night with no additional expenses for the clinician’s lodging or travel. This region is a beautiful four seasons setting offering exceptional downhill and cross-country skiing, hiking, mountain biking, river and lake swimming, snowmobiling, good restaurants, bars and the feeling of deep quiet.
The main house is newly renovated with 4 bedrooms, wonderful views of the river, a fully stocked kitchen, a large hot tub overlooking the river, a rope swing, patio, private master bedroom deck, fire pit and direct access to many hiking, cross country and snowmobile trails. The property is on the Sugarloaf ski shuttle bus route.
Option 3 – The setting that best suits you
The clinical team for Family Therapy Vacations is available to travel to the setting of your choice. These services may be provided in many distinct situations (i.e. vacations, family reunions or end of life settings such as a hospice facility.)
We have worked with families in settings from Nicaragua, Sicily, Croatia to Mexico. We are happy to try to make the setting of your choice a reality. The only setting that we will not use is a family’s primary home.
